The Greater LaPorte Chamber of
Commerce considers itself the voice
and advocate of business
in LaPorte. It monitors
laws and regulations that may impact its membership,
the community, economic development, business
retention, and quality of life issues at the
Federal, State and local levels of government. Policies of the
United States Chamber of
Commerce, the
Indiana Chamber of Commerce,
the Indiana Federation of Chambers, the Northwest
Indiana Chamber Executives Association and local
issues are reviewed for support or nonsupport by the
Governmental Affairs Committee.
When national, state or local policy issues
require action by the chamber, the committee will
vote to establish a resolution or
letter
addressing the issue for approval by the Executive
Committee, with final approval by the
Chamber Board of
Directors. The issue is then electronically e-mailed
to the chamber membership and posted
here on the Chamber’s website.
The Chamber realizes
that Federal and State issues are important to its
members however it will
concentrate the majority of it's efforts addressing
local issues that have a major impact on business
and quality of life in the community. |
