On behalf of the nearly 400 members of the Greater LaPorte Chamber of Commerce, I welcome you to LaPorte, Indiana, a small city of friendly, hardworking people who strive to make this part of Northwest Indiana a great place to grow and prosper. Truly a wonderful mix of both urban and rural influences, the City of LaPorte and surrounding townships feature inland lakes, rich fields of grain and livestock, rural and subdivided home sites, modern school facilities, a long list of cultural activities and a convenient transportation network.
For more than 150 years LaPorte's business community has provided for the people of this great goods-producing area, the country and the world. From steel product, bread and bun, machine tools, farm implements, radiators, washing machine parts to milk, grain, hogs and fruit to shoes, dry cleaning, grocery products and televisions, LaPorte makes and sells it all! |
Today government is investing in the future of this area. New water and sewer lines are under construction, workers are paving county roads and developers are subdividing business parks and new home sites. All of this activity bodes well for LaPorte's future as a place to secure meaningful employment, grow and educate a family and have some fun, too.
I invite you to browse our Web site, which provides you a variety of information about the Chamber and its many resources, opportunities within our community and of course, our member businesses. Please do not hesitate to contact us anytime that you think we can be of some assistance. Remember, our door is always open.
Sincerely,
Michael B. Seitz, IOM
